Comfort Residence in St. Louis Park
Our names are Carter Lindner and Joseph Boampong, we have been the Housing Directors at Comfort Residence in St. Louis Park, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Comfort Residence is an Assisted Living and Memory Care facility managed by Great Lakes Management.
Amy Lucht and the Fire department have been a constant resource for Comfort Residence during this difficult time. Whether it was connecting us to other Senior Living Facilities in the area or helping us acquire the proper PPE necessary to keep our residents and staff safe. Amy and her team were always ready to help. Comfort Residence has remained COVID Free among our residents and that could not have been possible without our amazing staff and the fire department at our side.
It was truly a blessing to participate in a group and collaboratively navigate these uncharted waters of COVID-19 together. It was amazing to see all these separate entities come together and share ideas on how to reach our common goal, of keeping our residents safe.
We are overjoyed by the distance we have come as group and I hope other areas in Minneapolis can come together and collaborate.
Villa Heathcare in Minnesota
My name is Mike Marchant. I am the Vice President of Operations with Villa Healthcare in Minnesota. Villa owns and operates 11 skilled nursing facilities in the Twin Cities. Of the 11, we have 3 skilled nursing facilities located in St. Louis Park.
Amy Lucht and the Fire Chief reached out to Villa Healthcare early in the pandemic. At the time, Villa was not aware of the resources and support from the local municipalities. The support was, and has been tremendous over the course of the pandemic.
Amy and the Fire Department has been there for any questions that we had. The Department was able to provide and supply one of our St. Louis Park nursing facilities with gowns at a time when there was a COVID-19 outbreak in the facility and there were no gowns to be found from our vendors. This was a huge safety need that the Department assisted us with. In addition, as the testing requirements increased Amy was a fantastic resource in putting us in touch with Hennepin County. Again, as those testing supplies were in high demand, Hennepin County was a huge assistance in ensuring that we have the testing materials/support needed to test our residents and staff.
As we moved through the pandemic, the organization would not have been nearly as successful without the support from Amy, the Fire Department, the city of St. Louis Park and Hennepin County.
The Estates at St. Louis Park
My name is Talia Pletcher. I am the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with The Estates at St. Louis Park. The St. Louis Park Fire Department has always been a huge support for The Estates at St. Louis Park.
The COVID-19 pandemic was tough enough to navigate for long term care however the Fire Department has always had the facilities at the forefront and was always ready to help or find the right resources to ensure we were able to care for our residents safely and support our staff and ensure their safety as well.
It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to be a voice at the table and be able to give input into processes and systems which will no doubt lead to better outcomes for those we serve in long-term care. I am so impressed with the fact that St. Louis Park’s Fire Department and leadership value and respect the nursing homes and assisted livings and feel that we are a vital part of this community.
I am proud of the work done with this group and am hopeful that other cities within Minnesota see this as an inspiration to further collaborate and include long-term care facilities as equal partners in their communities.
